The Science Museum in Boston Gets a $1 Million Grant

Google is writing a $1 million check to the science museum in Boston. This is just one of a series of grants totaling $12 million that the company is giving to seven US and British science museums. A spokesman for the company said that the grants are part of Google's effort to encourage science education.
The company has given away $150 million to nonprofit and educational institutions last year alone. Some Google employees at the Cambridge research center also donate their personal time to the Museum of Science. Google has placed no special conditions on the grant, saying that it's up to the Museum of Science to decide how they can best use the funds. A spokesman for the museum said they have not decided how to spend the money yet, but one idea under consideration is to use it on an exhibit related to technology and engineering education, possibly computer science.
